The International Center for Cooperation in Bioinformatics (ICCB) and its network (ICCBnet) are headquartered at the Weizmann Institute of Science (W.I.S.), Rehovot, Israel. ICCB provides scientific training and technical instruction to designated sites in biotechnologically developing countries in the utilization of relevant international databanks. Training in networking, trouble shooting and data analysis takes the form of apprenticeships, courses and hands-on workshops and occurs centrally at W.I.S.'s facilities and locally at affiliated ICCB sites.

The Weizmann Institute of Science hosts several bioinformatic activities, among them the Israeli National Node (INN) of EMBnet (European Molecular Biology network). INN has considerable experience and expertise in: formatting and channeling incoming data packets from international data banks to its remote affiliates around the nation; providing hands-on assistance to outlying sites in getting started; providing instruction and trouble-shooting services for all sites; organizing and running workshops and courses in databank utilization; and interacting with the international bioinformatics community. Through its national node, W.I.S. services approximately 250 research groups and more than 2000 scientists throughout Israel.
